My first blog post!

Well, I've started writing a blog. I've been thinking for a while about blogging, but didn't know if I had anything interesting to say. Time will tell.

As you might have worked out from the cunningly sly title, I'm very much interested in reading, writing, and have an unhealthy fixation for giant crocodile films. In this blog I intend to write about all three of these things, but also I will be just generally waffling on about any old thing that strikes my interest. It's not particularly a journal of my life [we can wait for the trilogy of blockbuster movies for that story], nor is it a scrapbook to display photos of my family and my cats doing funny things. There's nothing wrong with those sorts of blogs, but they're just not for me [at least, that's what I say now, but look out in my third post for a pic of my cat Leo driving a bus].

Generally, this blog is just an outlet, and something to add to the list of things I can't find time for. It's pretty much just for me, too; I am my own ideal reader; if anyone else finds any of my rantings interesting then that's great, but I'm not writing this as a prelude to world domination. If you're reading this, and liking any of it, then great; if you don't like it, then it's just tough taties.

There will probably be lots here about horror, and about science-fiction and fantasy. That's always been a great passion. Books, Tv, films, silly hats;if its genre, I love it. In this blog I'll probably waffle on about all sorts of stuff like that. I'm also attempting to write a novel called DALE OF TEARS, and I intend this blog to be a sort of progress report for that. For example, I read the first ten thousand words of it the other week [while drunk] and thought it was a big pile of crap, but we've made friends again since. Other writers might find my ramblings of interest, but above all, they will be interesting for me to look back on in the future, and laugh at.

I'm e-publishing some of my older stories [and occasional new ones] through Smashwords, so you might have found this blog through that, and I might waffle on about this from time to time. Equally, I'm sticking book and film reviews on Amazon and other sites and might put some of the more interesting ones up here for your perusal. I try and watch around five or six films a week, so there's bound to be something of interest to say there. For example, this morning [I like to watch a film in the early morning before my wife gets up] I watched ABOMINABLE, a cheap Syfy movie about a yeti. I was expecting its title to be also a fair and honest review, but, surprise, surprise, it was actually not bad. Ok, it probably wouldn't win an Oscar, and the yeti looked like a bloke from Abba in a big furry coat, but all in all, in that highly respected Bigfoot/Snowman/Yeti category of film-making, it wasn't at all bad. See, I could waffle on about Yeti films for ages, and, at some point, probably will.

Basically this blog is a waffleboard, its a big messy jumble sale of all things Michael, and to anyone who finds it vaguely interesting, I say, welcome to my world [you crazy buggers].
